Last day for consultation on Genetically Modified Organism (GMO)

Today Friday, April 28, will be the last day for public consultation set up by the ministers responsible for agriculture, ecology and research on new programs on GMOs in 2006.

Its duration will have been 15 days (beginning April 14) ... only via internet ... and mostly during the school holidays!

Not to mention the lack of publicity around this procedure will still have the merit of explaining the late delivery of information on our Health blog.

This year the consultation will therefore be focused on 17 new cases of application for leave for research or experimentation Business Development Biogemma, Librophyt, Meristem, Monsanto, Syngenta and Pioneer on corn and a genetically modified tobacco. Following this consultation, Dominique Bussereau, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, after approval by Nelly Olin, Minister for Ecology and Sustainable Development, will announce decisions on new research programs in 2006.

But as it is better late than never, and that the opportunity is still given a voice: You can still review by visiting the page public consultation ogm.gouv site or by sending direct mail to BRAB.SDRRCC.DGAL @ agriculture.gouv.fr.

Note: The balance of the consultation last year (4 to 18 April 2005) on 11 research programs is available online. An opportunity to note that the 2451 only 101 replies were favorable. This did not prevent trials being allowed!

To ask whether the organization of these consultations is not just a way for the government to feel good.
